According to a survey by a global business intelligence company of America (USA), Indians consider China as their biggest military threat. But the shocking thing has also come to the fore in the survey that in terms of military threat to India, they place America in second place after China.
According to an American survey, Indians see China as the biggest military threat for them. He sees this danger because of the India-China border dispute that has been going on for decades. The surprising thing in this survey is that Indians see America as a military threat after China and Russia considers NATO and America more responsible for the Ukraine war than Vladimir Putin. This is being seen in the context of India's behavior towards Russia after the Russo-Ukraine war. India did not refuse to buy oil from Russia despite the insistence of western countries including America.
Russia in context of Ukraine war: When America and Western countries imposed sanctions on Russia at the beginning of Russia-Ukraine war, India refused to be against Russia and instead of supporting Western countries in those sanctions, it gave priority to its economic interests. Western countries were not happy with this move of India. In fact, India itself had to present its stand time and again in foreign fora. This approach of India was praised by many other countries including Pakistan.
Pakistan not America after China: In a survey by America's global business intelligence company Morning Consult, 43 percent of the one thousand participants considered China as the biggest threat, due to which the long-running border dispute with India has become more vivid since 2020. The surprising thing in this survey is that 22 percent of the participants considered America as the second biggest security threat, giving priority to Pakistan.
India America should be together: According to Sonnet Frisby and Scott Moskovitz, who supervised this survey, where the world's two largest democracies (India and America) should appear to be natural partners in a way, especially when both do not trust China. India has some strategic reasons to remain aloof from the superpowers of the western world.
despite the quad: It was also observed in the survey conducted in the middle of October this year that even after the proximity of the Quad with the countries of South Asia, such risks are being seen against America. Other members of the Quad are Australia and Japan. The purpose of the Quad is to stop the expansion under China's economic and military supremacy policies.
keep up these efforts: Even after the pressures of the Quad countries, India did not remain neutral in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. He abstained from voting in the United Nations. Kept buying cheap oil from Russia and was looking for a diplomatic solution to solve the problem of food and fertilizer arising due to the crisis. 60 percent of the participants in the survey said that the Government of India should continue such efforts.
In a Bloomberg report, Shumita Deveshwar, senior research director for India at TS Lombard, says that more Indians blame America and NATO in this war because India has been closer to Russia after independence. In comparison, its relations with America are new. Apart from this, Russia is also an old arms supplier and cheap oil supplier for India.
